Special Driver for 9114B disks?
Message #1 Posted by Ray on 21 July 2004, 5:08 p.m.

Hi, I read this article:

http://www.blinkenlights.com/classiccmp/hp150faq.txt

I found this quote:

"The 9114A and 9114B used the HP150's 690k format on double sided disks. This format cannot be read by an IBM PC without a special driver."

Now, to make a long story short, does anyone know where I can find this driver?

Thanks.

Hi,

many years back we had a DOS driver for HP Vectra and IBM compatible PCs, which was capable of accessing LIF disks.

(N.B. Note that an HP Vectra PC is *not* fully IBM compatible)

Unfortunately I did not find the driver any more.

However, you could use the HP LifUtils, which are linked from somewhere on the hpmuseum site. The LifUitls are able to read/write LIF disks, like the ones used in the HP 9114 A/B .

Yeah, do these LIFU Utilitys have the ability to read tape disks formated on HP-110+? That's my objective here, is to transfer files to my Portable Plus via tape. Also, in the same document, it states there is some sort of "PC Emulator" for the 100 Series of computers that turns gives them a software emulated IBM bios. Does anyone know where I can find this?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I found the PC emulator. I still am not able to locate that driver however, if anyone has it and would be willing to share it, I would greatly appreciate it.

Much easier way for exchange between PC and Portable+ is to use the HPlink package (cs.com utility), which allows to access the PC 'A:' drive from the P+.
