HP 41CV or CX? how can I tell
Message #1 Posted by Peter Benton on 15 June 2004, 4:46 p.m.

I have an HP 41CX calculator that had broken, I sent it to HP for repairs (Several years ago) and it works fine, but... they appear to have put it in a HP41CV case? How can I confirm it's a 41CX, It has the clock functions, but some CV's also had this feature.

Thanks!

From the MoHPC "The HP-41CX was the same as the HP-41CV but added the Time module (stopwatch plus clock with alarms), an Extended Functions / Extended Memory module, a text editor, and some additional functions"

What a dis-service they did...

If I remember well you can try:

[Shift] [catalog] [4]

If you get "DIR EMPTY" or file names then it's a HP-41CX.

If you get the same as function's catalog ([Shift][catalog][3]) then it's a HP-41C or CV.

Regards.

A CAT 2 on a CX with no modules installed will respond with:
-TIME 2x
-CX TIME
-EXT FCN 2x
-CX EXT FCN

A CX will show 219 regsisters available in prgm mode after a memory lost, a CV will display 46.

Thanks Randy!

It's a CX in a CV wrapper... Soon it will be for sale, I gotta find all the extra modules etc.

It appears to be a CX then...maybe it's worth more since it says CV, but acts like a CX? Like one of those stamp proofs, huh?

Thanks!

Check out the 41 variations athttp://www.hpmuseum.org/collect.htm#variations

If it's a halfnut, well, it's just different. Worth more? Not sure, it's still just a CX. If it's an original fullnut, it's just a repaired machine and no big deal, anybody can do that by swapping internal parts.

Thanks again Randy, looking at the display, it's a fullnut I guess..... Where can I find the value? what's your opinion of the best place to sell, ebay or in the forums?

Peter
