HP27S/17BII: How to sort saved equations?
Message #1 Posted by Jens on 13 June 2004, 5:41 a.m.

Hello!

I have a few equations with names on my HP 27S and HP 17BII, which I want to have sorted alphabetically.

How can I do this?

Jens

Hi,

if there's no SORT functionality, you have to name your equations in an appriorate way to have them sorted;-)

Ok, maybe this is not of too much help, but did you RTFM ?

Well, that's the problem: The equations are not sorted by name!

Jens,

The 27S provides no automatic sorting of equations -- at least I have not found one in the 15 years I have used mine. Any sorting has to be done manually, by deleting an equation and re-entering it where you want it. The rules of that game, which you may well already have discovered, are:

1) If the display reads "<Top of List>", a new equation will go at the top of the list.

2) If the display reads "<Bottom of List>", a new equation will go at the bottom of the list.

3) If the display shows one of your equations, a new equation will go immediately BELOW that equation.

Once they are entered, the equations are like fossils in the sandstone. One has to chip them out by hand in order to move them.

Cheers, Tom
