HP49G+ USB file transfering?
Message #1 Posted by Cliff B on 4 Apr 2004, 6:28 p.m.

I recently purchased a HP49G+ but having trouble transfering ASCII from my PC via the provided USB cable so that they run on the calculator. Could somebody please describe the procedure and software required to do this.

Get the latest "48gII and hp49g+ PC Connectivity Kit and USB Drivers" from HP's web site. While you're there, if you don't already have the most recent ROM (build 31), also get the "HP49G+ ROM upgrade". Note that Conn4x also works with the 48G series.

But note that Conn4x text transfers differ from Kermit ASCII transfers in the way they translate NUL, literal " (that is, " within a string, not as a string delimiter), and literal \. Outside of a quoted string, you may need to substitute the translation code \092 for literal \, to prevent it being treated as an escape character (part of a translation code).

If you have an MMC or SD card and a card reader/writer for it, you can use my programs for Kermit ASCII compatible transfers via the card. If anyone wants them, let me know and I'll send them to you as an e-mail attachment.

Regards,
James

PS: I submitted my programs to hpcalc.org a few days ago, so the package should eventually show up there.

James
