In any case, the 33s manuals are already available as pdf: http://h20015.www2.hp.com/hub_search/manualCategory.jhtml?lc=en&pagetype=manual&cat=manual&docparent=manual&prodId=hp33sscien370806&sw_lang=en

Or even better - a HP 32S 50th ANNIVERSARY MODEL for $77:

Or a TI-68 with overcrowded keyboard for $32:

FWIW, Walmart.com's website still claims: "Preorder this item today and it should arrive on or just after 02/15/2004". Samsoncables.com website says: "On January 12th we were told that the current ETA is March 2004".

Other calculator distributors also have a March 2004 ETA for the 33S:

www.calculatorsource.com: "We currently expect it to be available in March, 2004."

commerce.hpcalc.org: "Expected mid March"

Since the 33S ETA has been pushed back repeatedly over the past 6 months or so, I wouldn't attach too much significance to these.

Maybe "33S" stands for "33 days from Shipment". Because no matter where or when you check, the expected delivery date is always about one month away

Received an email this morning that walmart.com shipped the 33s last evening from a California location.

End of March?

The Swiss dealer where I have pre-ordered an HP33C has recently changed potential release date from end of Feb to end of March.

He has also stopped accepting pre-orders. Perhaps HP reworks the calc because 31KB memory with only LBL A-Z is not really useful...

Have visited the Walmart web site: they claim the 33S will arrive on 02/15/2004. USPS also works on Sundays? ;-)

But when I saw the price I couldn't believe it: $49.90 which is about 70 Swiss Francs. I pre-orderd one for 129 Swiss Francs, nearly twice the price you pay in the US!

33S Predictions

in response to message #12 by Paul Brogger

The keyboard will be very responsive and there won't be any missed keystrokes

The RPN display will show both X and Y at the same time

HP will have a very successful $55 product

Sales of old HP32SII calculators on ebay will take a nose dive

It may just bring down the prices of the 32SII, but only for a short while. Have you seen the prices of 48GX on ebay? I think there is a market for durable calculators. Mind you I am not knocking the new HP calculators. But speaking for myself, I have a 49G+, and a 48GX and even though the 49G+ is about one zillion times as fast I prefer my 48. And I would pay $250 for a new one as opposed to $130+ for a new 49G+. Just my opinion.
