Sevice ROM for HP-41
Message #1 Posted by Matthias on 8 Feb 2004, 7:18 a.m.

I know there are several service ROMs for the HP-41. I got some lists from other collectors, but they all listed them as "service ROM" or "test ROM". I am a little bit confused and want to get a full overview of these takeover ROMS. All service ROMs can be tested: Plug in the module, start the calculator and press the "9" key. Then the module will test iteself and give you a code as "SM: 1A". This is the exact type of the module. So please, all you collectors that own a original or copy of a service ROM, please test it ans let us know, which service module exists and how do you call them.

Dear Matthias,
I use three kinds of service rom (SM1C, SM2A, TSRM).
Keying '9' returns SRV MOD BAD with SM1C and SM-2:A OK with SM2A.
I will test TSRM later.
I'm using a couple of 2716 and 2732 Eproms
with an HHP-16K Eprom Memory.
The error certainly comes from corrupted binary file(s) used for SM1C couple of Eprom burning.
However the version can be read from address HEX 4FFE to address HEX 4FFB. For instance:
4FFB 003 C
4FFC 0B1 1
4FFD 00D M
4FFE 013 S
Yours. Kind regards from Normandy.

The ET-11966 module (ROM signature SM-1C) was called by HP "Service Module", and can test the 41C, plug-in memory modules and the card reader. The 5061-7221 module (ROM signature SM-2A) was called by HP "Diagnostic ROM", and can test the 41CV/41CX and also the timer and extended function modules. I have both, but only as ROM images for my emulator :-(
