HP-48* Question?
Message #1 Posted by Roy Haller on 23 Nov 2003, 7:24 p.m.

Does a USB adapter vs. the Serial Port adapter exist? Or is Infa Red simpler?

I am successfully using a keyspan USA-19 USB-to-serial adapter for attaching my HPs (48SX, 48GX, 49G) to my iBook. I'm using Kermit or Xmodem to communicate witch the calcs (using ZTerm). I can even use VirtualPC if I have to do a ROM upgrade on the 49G (I don't know how to do that from the Mac, where the necessary software does not exists).

Note, however, that the USA-19 is not even a full serial adapter, but merely what they call a 'PDA Adapter'. It's cheap and does the job.

Hope this answers your question. Kind regards, Victor
