33S MANUAL HAS DISAPPEARED!
Message #1 Posted by Steve Ramsey on 14 Nov 2003, 3:26 p.m.

Just took a quick glance at the hp website...and I can no longer find the manual for the 33S! A search for "33S" yields not a trace of anything resembling a calculator. As I see it, motivation for this could be anything from "Why are we posting a manual for a calculator that can't currently be bought?" to "Those people that post to The Museum of HP Calculators Forum are right, we've got to totally redesign this thing!" Commence wild speculation.

While you're at it, consider these facts: -HP still holds the copyright for the HP 42S's ROM -The HP 42S is capable of handling 32k of RAM -The HP 42S uses a two-line display -The latest information indicates that the HP 33S will have 32k of RAM and a (underutilized) two-line display

Ah, if only.....

Ciao, Steve

Steve,

I found the HP33s manual "again" at:

http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/taskPageSelect.jhtml?reg=&plc=&lc=en&cc=us&prodId=hp33sscien370806&pagetype=manual&docparent=manual

Trying to find it using the regular search is like trying to find Saddam Hussein!!!

Looks like we'll be stuck w/ the present incarnation of the 33S. I'll have to keep dreaming of a 43S...

We can always create a simulator and then send it to HP and say "Here is what we want!!"

Educate HP by not buying low quality products

HP obviously lost focus on their loyal customers so it's about time to get used to 'the other' notation and look for a manufacturer that takes more care for its products.

We could always send a copy of RCL20 to Carly. She could have someone read it to her. ;)

I really enjoyed reading RCL20 especially 'The Most Toys' by Dean Lampman - I still crack up on re-reading the part about him getting his 35!

It's nice to see RCL 20 mentioned, and, actually, Frank Wales and I did donate 3 copies to the HP people at the 2002 HP Handhelds Conference in London. We never heard how far up the HP hierarchy they travelled (or were read) ;-) Regards all!

Now it's gone completely. Even the link posted in a previous message is no longer valid.

Doesn't give you much faith that HP have any clue as to what they are doing when they can't even keep their manuals in one place!!!

Re: 33S MANUAL .... It's My fault

It's my fault the HP-33S manual disappeared.

I was speaking to a senior HP executive and told him calculators should not be shaped like a Chevron gas station sign. Also, I told him that HP-34C was the best calculator HP ever made.

He said they would immediately scrub the entire HP-33S program and divert the entire HP calculator engineering department to making retro-nostalgic red LED calculators that work like classic calculators.

No doubt he got the HP-33S manual pulled at the same time.
