strange hp 34c on ebay, anyone knows what it is ?

There used to be an organization, Science for the Blind, that adapted scientific equipment for use by the blind. I suspect that is what is up for auction, a calculator that was modified to be usable by a blind person.

That is what I could find on Google. There were references to Thomas Benham, a blind professor at Haverford College.

I don't have any more information on the calculator. My guess, based on its age, is that they decoded the LED display signals and used them to drive some sort of braille device.
