HP 48GII
Message #1 Posted by Doug on 17 Sept 2003, 10:41 p.m.

There has been no discussion of the HP 48GII. I wonder why. Did everyone migrate to the 49G and now they have no need to bother themselves with the 48GII? (I know the answer to that is no).

From the spec sheets on hpcalc.org, it appears that the only differences are screen size, memory size (and expandability), and cable type. Could there be other differences. Does the HP 48GII take the same rom, and is it also upgradeable?

I still use my HP48G, and don't need all that memory (believe it or not), so I wonder if I should look at the 48 GII.

The 48GII is not at all a continuation of the 48G series, it's just a 49G with a new CPU. I guess there's not been any discussion of it as it doesn't seem to add anything over the existing 49G except being faster. HP should have named them the 49G+ and 49GX.

Personally i'll stick with my 48GX (and 38G, 39G and 48G).
