The closest thing I've seen to a service manual is the series of articles from the June 1972 HP Journal, available from this site. It's on CD 6. More of a block diagram than anything else, but still pretty useful.

Would my 'HP35 notes', which contain pinouts of the main ICs, a list of testpointss, etc be of any use? I can e-mail them to you (a fairly small plain text file).

Sorry for posting this publically.... Ellis, I would have sent you the HP35 notes (as you requested), but some spam-blocking software on you ISP refuses to allow me to send you mail. I am not particularly amused -- I hate spam as much as everyone else, but I like having legitimate e-mail bounced even less (particulalry when it's some information that's been requested, and which I am providing due to my own kindness). If you provide me with an e-mail address that I can actaully send messages to, I'll send you the HP35 notes (and the notes on the 45, 55 and 65).
