HP-45
Message #1 Posted by Jon on 2 Sept 2003, 6:58 p.m.

I have got a HP-45 and I see the model is not written in the front label (just hewlett packard). Is this usual?. I canīt use the timer facility (RCL CHS 7 8). Are there calculators without it?.

Thanks

Jon

Are you sure it isn't an HP35 or HP80?

Supposedly the later models of the 45 don't have the timer in ROM. What's the serial number on yours? The most recent one that I have is 1350Axxxxx and it has the timer in there.

Sorry,the timer is present

The timer works. I was doing it wrong, sorry. I was pushing all the keys at the same time. When I push RCL and after CHS-7-8 it works. In the other hand I insist, it is a HP-45 and the model doesnīt appear in the front label :-)

I have never seen an HP-45 without the timer function, and I have played with some very late model ones.

I would suspect that your machine either has had the front label replaced from a '35 or an old style label was left hanging around in the HP parts bin and was used when the machine was built. I have seen quite a few flukes like this (particularly very early in the production cycle) like HP25C machines with HP25 front labels, or keyboards that did not have "Continuous Memory". I also have an HP25 with an HP22 front label (known to have come that way from the factory).
