Actually you should be able to use an Hp39G manual verbatim. You will not have the memory or some of the functions of the 39G, but from a user perspective, they look very similiar (underneath the looks is a major revision according to the author of the 39/40G, and if you were to play with a 39/40 you would have to agree). But the manual is in PDF format from Hpcalc.org and will give you a great start and over 90% similiar.
