Charger for HP-29C Message #1 Posted by er on 1 July 2003, 8:21 p.m. Recently came across an HP 29C that has a separate charger module. The batteries are in the charger, underneath the tan plastic cover. I can't seem to be able to remove this cover to get the batteries out, to be able to place them into the calculator. There is an indented arrow on one end and when I attempt to gently pry it up, it does not move. It does not slide either. I don't know if it's stuck or what, but I don't want to damage it. Any ideas?

Push HARD in the direction of the arrow, and the far end of the battery pack should pop up. First picture: Battery in charging unit. You may have to use a screwdriver or knife blade to lever the thing out (pry in the drirection of the arrow on the far side away from the arrow). Of course this risks damage to the pack and/or charger.

Re: Charger for HP-29C Message #4 Posted by Ellis Easley on 3 July 2003, 11:56 a.m., in response to message #3 by David Smith The only way I can develop enough force to remove the battery pack from my HP25 is to push with both thumbnails against the molded ridge surrounding the arrow. With one thumbnail near the arrow and the other on the opposite end of the box outline, I can apply enough force and control the popping out of the pack.

The only way I was able to get the battery pack out of the charger was to use latex gloves on both hands and apply the pressure. This kept my fingers from slipping and not being able to reach the required force to release it.
