HP-41CV KEYBOARD
Message #1 Posted by Jon on 25 June 2003, 2:51 p.m.

I have an HP -41CV just like new but the "R down" needs a very hard pressing to work. I have tried to clean it with isopropilic alcohol but it doesn´t solve anything. I have used bristles impregnated in alcohol as described in this forum. Must I drop alcohol in the hole?. Is there any alternative method?.

Thaks in advance

Yes, it really helps to place a drop of alcohol in the hole, wet the wire brush with more alcohol, and scratch around in the hole. It can help to press and release the key while scratching around. On really stubborn keys, you may need to repeat the proceedure two or three times.

One of the keys on my 15C (1982 vintage) has the same problem. Is this 41CV procedure ok for mine as well?

Yes, it works fine on every keyboard I have seen that has the access hole under each key (Woodstock, Spice, Voyager series included). Some Woodstock keyboards do not have the hole. On these you can very carefully drill one by hand... avoid the circuitry etches.
