There was a thread a few weeks ago about replacing HP97 card reader flex cable. Ellis wrote:

Renato,
See if they have a cable with 13 conductors, 0.1" between conductors, at least 2.75 inches long - with both stripped areas on the same side of the cable.

I finally went to the store. They had two 13 conductors cable
a- Made by Ensung, L=20cm, 1mm between conductors
b- Made by Dong Ho, L=14cm, 1.25 mm between conductors.
None of them seem to fit. I understand HP97 uses 2.5 mm between wires. Maybe a 26 wires with 1.25 mm between conductors will fit ? What is the cable width ?

The cable is 35mm wide, 7cm long, and the conductor spacing is 2.5mm. There's 1.25mm of extra space on each side.

Ok, thank you.

If any of you could scan a 1:1 image of the cable, I could use it when I go to the store again. IŽll look for cables that match dimensions, and could be electrically compatible.

Here's the cable:

It's not being shown 1:1 here; you might have to grab the image directly from my server. Or you could use the measurements I supplied previously...

I think the spacing between conductors is actually 0.10 inches or 2.54mm (some cables are 2.50mm spacing... the difeerence adds up over more conductors). There is a posibility that a fine pitch cable (1mm or less) might work (much like the zebra strip connectors in the HP41) by sharing several conductors with one connecotr pin. Shannon's sampling therom says you the spacing needs to be finer than twice as dense as the normal cable for this to work.
