My HP documentation indicates that the first released series of Wands had the 1E Rom. The 1F and beyond could read the 'Sequenced Data Bar Codes' (footnote pg 10, 'Creating Your Own Bar Code'). Don

Hi Don, What is the Sequenced Data Barcode? I have never heard of it.

Sequenced data barcode

It's a special format of data barcode (numeric barcode, alpha replace barcode, alpha append barcode) which includes a sequence number in each row). With normal numeric (say) data barcode, the wand doesn't know what order you're scanning the rows, so WNDDTX could end up putting the numbers in the wrong registers. With sequenced data barcode, the HP41 will complain if you read them out of order

I have 2 HP41 wands. One is a WAND 1F, the other a WAND 1E. The 1E version has 2 major differences. Firstly,, it can't read the sequenced data barcodes (types 9, 10, 11). Secondly, it has problesm withnumeric data barcode over a certain length (which is not sufficient for 10 digits + 2 exponent digits + all the separators, etc). That's why my sdatabar program has a -E flag which attempts to generate readable barcode for the 1E wand, even if this means losing the least significant digit.

Yep! -MASS ST 1C (AFAIK from a pre-production HP-IL module). About the Wand 1E others told you already. For more see at http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/nutem/romim.htm (that's nearly <G> all I know at the moment)

Ciao.....Mike
