Thanks for the link.

Excerpt from the article:

"...the Platinum is the first of H-P’s financial designs to include two new modes: ALG (Algebraic) and RPN..."

If this statement is in the brochure or in the manual, one could think someone's trying to rewrite history. Maybe the writer never heard of the 17BII and 19BII, which both were switchable from RPN to the dark side of modes...

Nope, they mean...

the new ALG mode, which does not include any hierarchy and does not include parentheses.

the 18c, 19b, 19bii, 17b, and 17bii at LEAST included parentheses.

Give me a break, HP. Putting an = key on a calculator that will solve 1 + 2 x 3 = and give 9 rather than 7, is nuts if you don't have parentheses keys!

FYI

Similarities between HP calculators and Led Zeppelin:

  • Both started out in 1968
  • Nothing/nobody else like them (before or since)
  • Universal appeal, while not being accepted by the general public
  • Releasing new versions of originals
  • Class act; products/material have stood the test of time
  • Both are from our generation

Sorry, couldn't resist.. I've waited nearly 25 years for this (new releases from my favorite band) 8^)

The difference is that I don't want to pick up Led Zeppelin when I see them!

forgive my paraphrasing but-

i remember a line from some movie that goes: led zeplin didn't write songs that everyone liked, they left that for the bee gees.

well; hp didn't make calculators that everyone liked, they left that for casio.
