Help needed - Woodstock external battery charger
Message #1 Posted by Renato on 27 May 2003, 4:22 p.m.

I just got a external battery charger for my woodstock collection. It seems to be working, but there is a rattle inside. Also, one terminal is corroded - so i would like to open it, clean and fix the rattle. I don't know how to open this unit - can someone help me ?

It's glued together :-(. The main area for glue is between the flat part at the bottom of the battery cavity and the bottom part of the case. You have to carefully prise (pry) it apart. Once the 2 parts of the case have separated (hopefully without too much damage -- mine came apart cleanly), it's easy to extract the little PCB. The circuit is really simple -- 2 resistors, a diode, and the LED.

The ones that I have needed to open were glued shut rather well. One had to break the plastic tabs to get them apart. Putting them back together again was a real pain.
