Re: Is this a Joke?????? Message #13 Posted by Ron Ross on 5 May 2003, 1:05 p.m., in response to message #12 by db(martinez, california)
I always look at a sellers feedback. I like it to be a high percentage (need not be perfect, in fact I like to see one or two negatives). And heres why. How did the seller respond to a negative, did he respond with a negative? was he at fault? If who he placed a negative with, have a lot of negatives? If so, fine, ebay methods at work (you deal on ebay often enough, your bound to deal with a jerk, especialy as a seller).
But If I see over 2% negative and he also responds with negatives, I go elsewhere. The only real leverage a buyer has on ebay is HIS BID!!! After you bid, you are at the mercy of the seller, will he ship item as described? After he has $$$, he usually waits for you to recieve and post feedback. If you don't some sellers cry or post nuetrals. Either way, I feel it is a flawed system that rewards or at least allows sellers to carry on with poor habits. If I sell on ebay and a buyer fulfils his side of the bargain with a prompt payment, I need no more information, I leave a positive feedback, then and there. If a problem happens in shipment, I want to resolve the issue, so not to get a negative, but that should not be an issue of leverage, the buyer has paid promptly. If I do get a negative, I want the person to note how I corrected. Granted, deadbeat bidders do need to be identified. But that happens with NO Payment!
But my complaint is to many sellers get paid promptly, take their time shipping or due to poor postal deliveries, have an item lost, get a negative and immediately post a negative on a decent buyer, out of spite. While it may be the buyer did not wait for reparation, a payment lost in the mail will also draw a negative and whose fault is that?
I no longer post positive feedback to sellers until they post to me (on occasion I have if the item is better than stated or extreme care in packageing, etc.).
I suggest you read a few negative comments posted by this seller before you bid on this PRIZE. Don't worry about competetion from me.
