HP-41CX Halfnut Contrast
Message #1 Posted by Jeff on 15 Apr 2003, 6:20 p.m.

I was reading one of the CHHU issues today and they describe a program to change the angle of the display on a Halfnut. Can anyone point me in the direction of this program? Thanks

Hi;

You'll need specific ROM to control halfnut's contrast. If I am not wrong, PPC ROM and PANAME are both that have this functions. In fact, you may also add all lower-case letters in a halfnut LCD.

There is more about this subject, this is what I can tell.

Best regards.

I don't think there is any functions in the PPC ROM for this. The contrast is controlled by a register that you only can access through machine code. The PPC ROM only holds user code, unless my memory is wrong. Also, I believe the PPC ROM was made before the halfnut, so that would mean it's very unlikely they have a function to control the halfnut contrast.

The same is true for lowercase characters. You really need to program in machine code to generate those characters.

This is one of the few moments when I think that I might enjoy a halfnut CX instead of my fullnut.
