HP-71 and 75
Message #1 Posted by Michel Beaulieu on 5 Apr 2003, 12:18 p.m.

I have a HP-71 and a HP-75. I recently purchase some magnetics cards for my 75 and on the card it's writter that i can use them on the 71! I look on my 71 but don't see any slot to enter the card? Is there an error on the cards on where is the reader on the 71??? Perhaps it's a HP-71XXX made with card reader built in? Don,t laught if it's me don't looking at the right place on my 71... ;-) There are a lot of covers ans "ports" on the 71 and near the 71B lettering there is a kind of slot but where is the exit for them?

Thanks Michel

The card reader is optional on the 71, it goes under the "HP71B" label. Other companies made RAM and EPROM modules that could go there, too. BTW, The 71 and 75 can't read each other's writing on the cards.

Take a look at the pictures on the 71B page on this site.

The card reader is an option which is installed in the upper right just below the logo. You can also see it from the back on the rear view picture.
