HP-71b + barcode wand
Message #1 Posted by Tezza on 13 Mar 2003, 3:11 p.m.

Have a HP-71b with the Zenwand barcode wand and the in/out interface. When wand is plugged in it says "Scan ID barcode" and appears to scan but not recognise any code I show it. Even one from this site as an example doesn't help. Is there an ID barcode available that would help? Does this machine read any other codes other than the ones it self generates, with the programms available on here? Any and all help gratefully received.

Is that wand the famous Zengrange Ltd Zenwand-71?
I have scanned its user's manual and PDF file is somewhere.

Hi,

I don't have the keywords handy here, but the wand ROM has some functions to read specific barcodes (READEAN or alike) into a string or numeric variable, and at least one keyword to read generic codes. It works well reading product barcodes, which are on nearly every product box.

If your wand doesn't work with the commands, it could be a custom version.

Regards,

Raymond
