15C User Mode
Message #1 Posted by Charlie S on 16 Feb 2003, 9:06 a.m.

Hello all,

I have a 15C which will do simple add, multiply, divide, etc but shows "Error 4" whenever I try a square root or any scientific function.

The annunciator "user" shows all the time and I don't recall that in the past. Do you think I'm stuck in some mode I have forgotten about? I can't find my manual to look this up.

Thanks

I just recently purchased a 15c so my knowledge is limited. But it seems to me that you are in fact in the user mode (which allows you to redefine some keys) as indicated by "user" in the display area. You should be able to turn this mode off by pressing the yellow shift and the [RCL] key, which has "user" (in yellow) written above it. This should restore normal calculator function.

"...the user mode (which allows you to redefine some keys)..."

Not exactly: when in user mode, the yellow functions (A, B...) are the principal functions in those keys and white functions (sqrt, exp...) are now got pressing yellow f key before.

This let you run quickly (with only a keystroke) the programs labeled A, B...

Hope this helps (if it can be understood)

Raul
