Decoding newer serial numbers
Message #1 Posted by Holger Weihe on 7 Feb 2003, 8:21 a.m.

Hello,

I have a HP-20S with the serial number ID83807111. This is not the numbering scheme of most other HP calculators. I think that "ID" stands for Indonesia. But in which year has this machine been produced? 83 would be to early, so maybe does the 8 mean 1988 or 1998?

Anyone knows how to interpret this number?

Holger

Hi Holger,

the decoding schemes are here:

You are right. I read the text before but somehow missed the last paragraph. So my HP-20S was made in 1998.

Thanks!

Holger

So CN0031 (as on my HP-30S) means China, 2000, third week, Nr. 1?

Frank.
