Internal HP 48G User's Guide ?
Message #1 Posted by John Smith on 19 Jan 2003, 9:20 p.m.

Hi, I've just found a thick manual titled "HP 48G Series - User's Guide", several hundred pages long. Not owning an HP-48 series machine, I don't know if this is the standard manual supplied with it (or available separately), or if actually there's any difference between this one and the 'regular' ones.

However, in the back cover, under the HP logo, I've just noticed a legend which reads:

"For HP internal use only: Part Number 00048-90126 00048-90104 (English) Edition 3 Printed in U.S.A. 7/93"

and this "internal use only" label had me thinking, so I would like to know if this is somewhat rare, if there are any differences between this particular guide and the 'non-internal' ones, or else it has the same contents and/or it's quite normal. Thanks in advance for any info or comments.

Just checked my manual - it's the same. The internal HP use reference is in regard to the part number, 00048-90104. It must be some HP-ism, having two part numbers for the same manual.

Hi;

I remember I read in other HP calculator's manuals that the reorder number is diferent of the part number itself. This suggests that the manual that comes with the calculators (Part Number) has a different number of the manual that's ordered separately. Maybe this "HP Internal use only" has something to do with it.

Just a guess.

Thanks to both of you
