Thanks! 9114A working!!
Message #1 Posted by Daniel on 5 Dec 2002, 12:58 p.m.

Thanks to all who replied with help and comments while I tried to get my 9114A disc drive to work. After Tony's invaluable help in tracing a fault on the main board, I replaced a power transistor and the drive powered up. I was able to format a disc with my 41CX, write the status, dir the file and read the status! This was using an old Mac disc that a colleague gave me.

This forum is an invaluable resource for HP calculator collectors and lovers!

I assume you replaced Q101, the pass transistor in the +5V regulator. What did you use to replace it?

I replaced it with a TIP42 PNP power transistor.
