HP-12C
Message #1 Posted by Thomas Cox on 10 Nov 2002, 7:34 p.m.

While they last, $31 at K-Mart. Special clearance price. These units were manufactured in China and use 1 CR-2032 battery as compared to the three batteries specified in the manual. Blister pack contains calculator, manual (appears to have been printed in mid-90s), a cheap plastic case and an advertisement from Grapevine Publications for various books. No warranty card or option to register over Internet. Manual says warranty period is one year.

That's a pretty good price. I got one on an "internal" price, no warrenty, $29 (plus tax plus shipping).

And I've read elsewhere in the Forum that it's not just a coin battery _vs._ three LR-44 types, that the lower current translates to much lower power use (it had better, after all), and that holding an old-style Voyager next to an AM radio tuned off-station will detect a much louder (broadcast) buzz than a newer style (12C).
