HP-41 Printer
Message #1 Posted by Luis on 23 Oct 2002, 6:19 a.m.

Hello All,

Could someone explain me the differences between the 82143A and 82162A printers?

Thanks!

Luis

I believe mechanically they are the same. The 82143A plugs directly into one of the HP-41 four module ports, and has the printer ROM built in. The 82162A connect to an HP-IL cable. Therefore the HP-41 IL module has the printer ROM built into it, with a switch on the HP-IL module case to turn off (disable) the printer ROM.

Also the 82162A can print bar code and the 82143A can not

Hi;

this printer ROM eneble/disable switch in the HPIL allows you to use the HP82143A if you have an HPIL connected to the HP41. Both HPIL printer functions and HP82143A built in functions share the same XROM numbers (at least the ones with the same name). This way, you may CONNECT both HP82143A and HP82162A in the same HP41, but you will use ONLY the HP82143A; the HP82143A connector IS the interface itself, and it becomes active in the moment you plug it in the HP41. It means that it cannot be disabled as one can do with the HPIL printer functions.

My US$0,05.

If you work with the DEVELOPMENT module for monitoring the HP-IL Interface Loop commands, it is possiblt to print them with the HP82143 (not with the HP82162 because last device would generate additional print-data transfer to the loop).

You can also do the same thing with the HP-41 IR module and 82240 printer
