HP41.CV Repair
Message #1 Posted by Tom Walker on 12 Aug 2002, 12:09 p.m.

Sometime ago I recall some messages suggesting repairs that could be done (key contact cleaning, etc) to get my 41CV working properly. It produces some random nonsense, but sometimes will work O.K. Indications to me are that some key contacts may need cleaning. I don't really know how to open the case to look into this. Suggestions?

There are lots of discussions about cleaning the 41C's. The Forum contains the most recent threads and the [ Archives ] have the earlier ones. The highest numbered Archive is like a "sweep account" for the Forum, as new messages are posted, older ones are "swept" into the highest numbered Archive. In either the Forum or the Archives, use [ Search / Personalize Display ] to search for specific discussions.

Morning Tom It just happened to me as well, that my display told me only garbage. The reason for this was that the lower screws which hold the two calculator case parts together were loose. The result was that the zebra-connector didn't do a firm connection anymore. When I pressed the lower part of the calculator to the table it worked fine. Without pressure I got only a symmetric pattern of hieroglyphs in the display. Just try to tighten the lower two screws under the rubber feet. (But do not overstress the screws!) Good luck, hope I could help.
