problem of nnm
Message #1 Posted by Jobs Chen on 1 Aug 2002, 8:02 a.m.

I download an network node manager 6.31 for solaris 8 evaluatoion software to study, but I installed it on solaris 9(Sunos Solaris1 5.9 Beta_Refresh), and the memory is only 256M. After installed, it can't start SNMP MIB-2 subagent sucsessfully and the exit code is 139, and this make netmon can't start successfully. I don't know which cause this problem. Can anybody help me? Thanks.

What calculator does this fit?

Find an atomic vector plotter.

Hook it up to the logic circuits of a Bambowinni Sub-Meson brain.

Immerse it all into a strong brownian motion producer (a nice cup of really hot tea will suffice).

Enter parameters.

Read some Vogon poetry while you wait.

Could it be that Carly has told HP Tech Support to send people here to get back at us for the bad press she has received here?

It sounds like you should probably look into finding a support site for OpenView/SNMP. This site, in case you were confused by Fred and Gene's droll wit :^), is pretty much devoted to older HP calculators, not their line of network monitoring software.

Unless, of course, you manage to figure out a way to port net-snmp to MetaKernel. I'm sure many of us would be interesting in that... ;^)

What? Don't like Douglas Adams? :-)

Funniest man who lived in the last 50 years, IMO. I still break out laughing when I hear the audio versions of any of his books.

Terrible loss, dying at such an early age. :-(

I'm not sure if he's the funniest, but he certainly makes my short list. I heard a rumor that the original BBC Radio version of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is available on CD, but I'm still trying to locate a copy. The only thing I've been able to turn up is the audio books. :^/

Indeed. I keep hoping that he's simply spending a few years dead for tax purposes...

I understand that he's got a new book coming out. The Salmon of Doubt: Hitchhiking the Galaxy One Last Time is supposed to have been reconstructed from manuscript fragments and notes discovered on his various computers after his death.

Douglas Adams? :-) Good news!

Hey;

pretty good news. Is there a way to know some more about it?

Brazilian versions of his books are hilarious, too.

Cheers.

The US edition details are:

The Salmon of Doubt: Hitchiking the Galaxy One Last Time
Douglas Adams, Christopher Cerf (Editor)
Hardcover; 288 pages
Harmony Books; ISBN: 1400045088
May, 2002

It is available through Amazon.com (serch "Books" for Douglas Adams), but I'm not sure if they ship to your neighborhood. :^)

Isn't it interesting that the ultimate answer is 42, both in the book and, it seems, which calc everyone would like to see reintroduced?

If they ever DO reintroduce the 42, maybe (in remembrance) they should give it a slipcase that says "Don't Panic!".
