HP-95lx Prototype
Message #1 Posted by Edwin Herdman on 22 July 2002, 10:24 p.m.

I have acquired a prototype model HP-95lx. It is in very good condition. The OS boot indicates the project's working name by the message, "Welcome to Jaguar."

Anybody interested?

It is in very good condition.

Yup, Mac OS 10.2 was/is code named "Jaguar." Oddly enough, it seems to be hanging around after the product intro as the name of the product.

It is interesting to note that the new version of OS X includes a handwriting recognition technology which, coincidently or not, was developed for the last product released by Apple whose project code name became the product name -- the Newton.

Yes, I seem to recall reading that Jobs kept refering to the new os as Jagwire.

os is it code named,

It seems no matter how carefully one proofreads a posting, some errors will always sneak through. Of course I meant:

OR is it code named,

That would fit nice in my collection, but I have to save for the holidays :-) For sure you find somebody interested at HPLX-L, the mailing list for 95/100/200/700LX- and 1000CX-users (see http://www.palmtop.net/ and follow the link).

Ciao.....Mike

As far as I recall

95LX was Jaguar (HW) 100LX was Cougar (HW) Omnibook 300 (the first one with MS OS in ROM) was Lion

Lots of carnivoures there.
