How to open a 9820A
Message #1 Posted by Uwi on 21 July 2002, 2:48 p.m.

Hi together

I just got a 9820A. As there a some problems with the machine I would like to open it. Any hints how this can be done? I removed the 4 screws at the bottom, which hold the keyboard, but I'm to shy to remove the keyboard, as it will not go off easy. Any hints welcome.

Greetings

Uwe

You first have to remove the four screws below the top flap. Then shift the top cover to the right side and lift it. After doing this you can remove the keyboard but watch the AC-power cable connected to the line switch. You have to lift the keyboard a bit to get it clear of the cable. Then unplug the AC cable on the right of the card reader and the keyboard connector below the printer. Be VERY VERY carefull when powering the machine up while the keyboard is loose. On the left side of the keyboard is a non-insulated connector which may touch the metal cabinet. When this happens you are likely to shorten and damage the keyboard electronics. I hope that helps.
