using an 82164 to transfer data between a 41 and a PC
Message #1 Posted by andy on 20 June 2002, 2:47 p.m.

I want to transfer data (files) between a 41 and a PC using hp-il and the hp82164a (hpil-serial). Anyone have any advice for me?

Thanks,

Andy

Read the manual! It's available in the Museum CDs. If you have an 82183 Extended I/O module, your life will be a lot easier, too.

andy, some time ago i wrote a little program to do just that:

1)saving [PRP][alpha]"name"[alpha] as txt-files (i.e., program listings) 2)acting as a "program storage" that can be controlled via [OUTP] and [INP]. 3)acting as a time server to set the HP41-CX clock.

unfortunately, to read programs back from the PC, you will need the X-I/O module. if you dont have that one, it might be possible to emulate the [INP] function with the HP-IL DEVEL module (i didn't try that).

because i did this program primarily to "learn some delphi", the program is strictly "alpha", with most of its planned features not working yet. if you are anyway interested in it, just drop me a line and i'll be sending it to you for testing.

cheers, hans (remove .nospam from mail adress)
