HP 11C LCD DISPLAY
Message #1 Posted by PHIL KOWALSKI on 1 June 2002, 9:34 p.m.

PART OF THE LCD DISPLAY ON MY 11C HAS GONE BLACK - ANY CHANCE OF RECOVERY FROM THIS PROBLEM OR IS MY CALCULATOR NOW USELESS?

It sounds like a broken LCD unit, which would be a non-recoverable error. But don't throw it away! It's useful for spare parts at a minimum.(try the classifieds page if you want to sell it.)

You can also do the same, backwards: post a message asking for a nonworking calculator Voyager (except the newest HP12C; maybe their new LCD works with different voltages, due to the fact they use a single, 3.3V cell instead of three 1.5V cells) with a good LCD. Maybe some difficulties on replacing the LCD will arise; by now, it's good idea running for the LCD.

May I ask if the LCD looks like broken? Christof is completely right, there is no recovery from that; I would like to know how bad is it.

Success.

Some time ago there was a question here about using the display of a newer 12C (not even from the last, redesigned model) to repair a 11C, and the experiment failed. You may try finding a 12C from the same timeframe (year?) than your 11C, but there are no warranties.
