problem with 42S

I have a service replacement 42S made in 1999. Thing is, of late it seems to be just loosing memory and displaying 'memory clear' very often. Any ideas? It fell a couple of times.

I forgot to mention that I have changed batteries a few times hoping that the new batteries would solve the problem.
