Just tonight, I received yet another email thnking me for the article that Ty rogers and I, along and foremost with the help of Dave Hicks put together on repairing the 82104A 41 series card reader. Since we put tht article together, I've received many postcards from all over the world, places I never knew existed. Even a BEAUTIFUL photo album of "Blue Sardinia" from Luigi, where he wrote on the inside cover "To Dave, my best American friend, with Gratitude, Luigi". Isn't this what we are all here for? to help each other out? Whether it be fixing a freakin old calculator or just lending a hand to those in need? I have to say, after being absent from this forum for quite a while, I am rather disconcerted with all the personal attacks that I hve seen tonight. Come on people, lets get down to what is really what we need in this world right now and do what we can to HELP each other. Dave Hicks, my hat is off to you. People, lets show him some respect and rethink our emotions before we use his space to vent our anger towards another. The Rabbit has left the soapbox.

When we do have one of these rare flare-ups, it's really nice to hear some words of encouragement. While a couple of threads got a little nasty for awhile, I really like the way they've gotten back on track today. People still have some disagreements but they're being expressed in a civil way.

Of the topics discussed, I wouldn't guess these would deserve such time, emotion, and energy, - at least not here in this forum. Dave, I hope things get back to normal as you mentioned. I have dealt with Mike in the past, and will likely in the future. Independent of the items he lists in his auctions, or the politics of such, his items are well represented and no-nonsense - ideals that should set the bar higher - I try to remember that. I often watch his auctions, and others, to gage prices paid for specific items. In my communications on a buyer/seller level, he has again set a high bar, on one occasion going out of his way to honor my request for a quick response and special delivery. Thanks Mike. Thanks Dave for an even hand.

If the issues, rather than the personalities are openly discussed, with others opinions respected, these discussions can remain in fun. We should expect that various collectors and resellers will act or behave in various ways. Diverse opinions and philosophy abound on ethics, even when linked to religion. The golden rule may be most applicable, but since it is self identifing results vary there as well.

Many years ago I was listening to an interview of a union official who was trying to justify his unions tactics and I quote. "As the good book says 'Do others before they do you.'" He was serious! There are some truly scary people out there.
