Spice series battery terminals

Has anyone discovered a way to repair a broken spice series battery terminal?

Katie's way is an actual re-manufacture, thanks for the dimensions and sources, I need to do this too. In the meantime, I found another way to get mine working. This discussion assumes the broken terminal was not very badly corroded - mine wasn't corroded too badly but broke at the bend. I soldered a short length of wire (I used #30 wire-wrap wire) from the back of the broken piece to the PCB trace under the negative terminal (which was the broken one on mine). There is not a similar trace under the positive terminal but you could solder to the remaining part of the old terminal or pass the wire through the rivet and solder it to a solder pad on the other side. After electrically joining the broken parts, I put a piece of double-sided dense foam tape under the terminal to hold it in place and provide some spring force.

Ellis: Thank you very much for the easier alternative to Katie's method! I guess I will use one or the other depending on how "authentic" I want it to look, and how much damage there is to the terminals.

I've come up with a good way to replace the broken terminals that doesn't require too much work and looks and works as good as new.

You'll need to open up the case to the point of being able to get clear access to the battery terminal circuit board. Start by drilling out the rivet holding what's left of the broken contact in place (something around a #45 drill bit - a little bigger than 1/16" - works well). Then cut a piece of .01" thick beryllium copper (you can get a 6"x9" strip of this from www.smallparts.com) .2" x .5" and bend it to match the look of the original contact. Then drill a small hole in the end of it and attach it to the circuit board (where you drilled out the rivet) with a 0-80 x 1/4" screw and nut (also available from Small Parts).
