Need a Card Reader Head for HP-97
Message #1 Posted by Paul Nelson on 6 Jan 2002, 10:41 p.m.

Hi all- I need a head assy for an HP-97 Card Reader. Think an HP-95 or 67 will work- don't need the motor or the gear wheel- just the head and carrier assembly.

Anyone have something I might be able to use?

I suppose (not sure) that the HP41 Card Reader head will fit your needs, and may be easier to obtain.

The HP41 head will not fit easily. The heads are glues to the support plate, after being aligned at the factory. It's normal to have to replace the head and support plate (reader lower chassis, basically) as an assembly. The HP97 and HP67 (and I think the HP65) all use much the same support plate, so you can interchange the entire assembly. The one for the HP41 is totally different (although I think the head itself is electrically much the same -- certainly the same sense amplifier chip -- 1826-0322 is used in the 67, 97 amd 41.
