HP-97 ac power question
Message #1 Posted by Erwin on 30 Oct 2001, 6:34 a.m.

Hello,

Can i use the same adapter for the HP-97 that is used by the HP-41c printer. It has an out-put of 2,5 v/a and 8V. I have a very old battery-pack that can hardly hold it's charge. When it's in the HP-97 it give a red dot above the display, indicateing "low Battery". The indicator is still on when i also use it in combination with the above mentioned ac adapter. And it's also evident that there is a low power, because the printer can not rol-up the paper. But it does print clearly. Do i need a more powerfull adapter? Will my problems be solved with a new battery-pack?

All comments are welcome.

Thank's

You can get the battery packs rebuilt at batteries Plus fairly inexpensively. Your issues probably will be resolved by fresh batteries. Yes the HP-41 rechargers should work fine. Never, never operate these calcs without the batteries in place, the printers can be destroyed in an instant. There can be issues with paper advance if rollers get gummed up or harden. Once you have a fresh battery pack you will know if this is the case but is a much harder fix.
