HP42S Inpt Project -- Another status report.
Message #1 Posted by Tony Duell (UK) on 30 Sept 2001, 2:00 p.m.

I've finally found time to wire up the 6-chip interface between a parallel port and the HP42S 'keyboard simulator' that I built a couple of weeks back. For convenience on my bench, I used an HP71 + 82165 GPIO module as the host parallel port, with the connections as shown for a parallel printer in the 82165 user manual. I then used PRINTER IS to define the GPIO interface as the printer and PRINT CHR$(N); to send keypress codes to the interface. Good news : It seems to work properly. I can send strings of keypresses fromthe 71 to the 42 and get the expected results on the 42 display.
