HP-71B Accessing upper 32K from Card Reader Slot
Message #1 Posted by Mike on 27 Aug 2001, 5:37 p.m.

I have a 64K RAM that is installed in the card reader slot. The entire 64K shows up when I execute MEM.

I then use FREE PORT(5) to make this RAM part of external RAM instead of main RAM. When I execute MEM I still see 32K of this RAM as main RAM and when I execute MEM :port(5), I get 32K, instead of 64K.

I don't see any way to FREE this other 32K RAM. I have tried other values for the port but it looks like I'm limited to 0-5 which covers main ram, front plugin RAM and 32K of card reader RAM.

Must this other 32K always be part of main RAM? What am I missing here?

Thanks

Your 64k module is made of 2 32k blocks: port(5) and port(5.01). So just do: free port(5.01)
