Question for Katie
Message #1 Posted by Hugo on 16 Dec 2000, 10:47 p.m.

I kept an old message you posted on the forum concerning parts reference at SmallPart.Com . Since then , I've received their catalog and I'm ready to make an order. I want to know if they sell the famous HP screws. I need to get new screw for two 41C and a Classic, so if you can tell me which part number to get, that will help me a lot.

Thanks

Hugo

Hugo,

No, Small Parts doesn't seem carry anything that will work as a suitable case screw replacement.

These screws are a #3 self tapping sheet metal screw and are very hard to find. I recently found a source but they required an order of 10,000 screws!

Well, make yourself a fortune!

Buy 10,000 of them, and sell sets of them on ebay with a staring bid of say... $4.

You could quite easily claim: *RARE* *MINT*

Let's see. How about this for text to go along with the item:

ATTENTION!!!! All HP 41 owners. YOU WILL need some of these one day. I've managed to get a limited number of these hard to find screws for the HP 41. We all know how easily the posts in the HP41 break, and how hard it is to find replacement screws. Once these are gone, that's it.

I'd likea cut of the profits.

Oh, if you can copy the manual for the screws, then maybe you can get an HP01 pen too ;-)

How much for 10,000 screw ? Maybe we can buy the lot and resell them by 100 pieces to who ever need those screw in the MoHPC. If they are selling for example the lot 100$, I'm ready to spend 5-7$ + shipping for 100 screws. And I'm sure a lot of people here are willing to also.
