New article and battery search help
Message #1 Posted by Katie on 16 Dec 2000, 10:25 p.m.

Hi all,

I've just posted an article about battery pack rebuilding with a source and prices for every rechargeable calculator battery pack HP has used. But I still don't have a source for the 1/2N size cells used in the 82120A battery pack for the 41C. This web site says that at one time TNR Technical, Inc. sold Sanyo N-75P cells, but they are no longer made. 1/2N is the industry standard term for this size, but I can't find any manufacturer that still makes them. Do you know of one?

Thanks,

Katie

Katie,

I'm not sure this is helpful, but I recently (a few months ago) had a couple of 82120's rebuilt by TNR Technical and they did not seem to have any problem with availability of the N75P rechargeable batteries. The contact person is Marty. He is a treasure trove of information on batteries. Apparently TNR does OEM manufacturing for Sony and other large companies, that is, the company sends them the plastic housing, and they package it with the appropriate batteries. It is not a small time operation. They did a really professional job, and only charged me $20 per pack. They do not have extra packs, so you have to send them yours (for the plastic). Note that their address has changed recently: TNR Technical, Inc. 3400 West Warner Ave. Suite K Santa Ana, CA 92704 (800) 490-8418

So give Marty a call regarding availability of the rechargeable cells.

Regards,

Ion Abraham Albuquerque, New Mexico

Ion,

Thanks much! I had not called them yet just checked Sanyo, who doesn't make them any more. Perhaps Marty has old stock in them or maybe he found an alternative.

Katie,

When you call Marty, please ask for a non-0800 number so we (international) can call too?

Thanks, Gil petri.
