HP65 Bouncey Keys
Message #1 Posted by John Robinson on 14 Nov 2000, 8:01 p.m.

Som of my HP65 keys, particularly the number keys are a bit bouncey, i.e. I press the key once, and the number regsiters twice. Is this just dirty key switches, or something more drastic ? - Thanks, John

Hi John,

Definitely dirty switch contacts, I've seen that a lot. I use isopropyl alcohol soaked gauze to clean them with. You need to carefully thread this under the metal bands and wipe gently. You can also try using dental floss with is much easier to deal with, but doesn't always do the trick.

A real fine (1000 Grit) and very light sanding under the contacts can help a lot, it does not take nor should you use this too much.
