Are CPU boards for 41C / CV / CX interchangable
Message #1 Posted by David F. on 10 Oct 2000, 7:26 a.m.

I have a 41CX with a perfect CPU board, but all other components suffer from corrosion or broken plastic. Can I transplant the 41CX CPU board into a 41C or 41CV?

David,

I have done this several times and had no problems what so ever. There are differences in both CPU boards and keyboard PCBs, but they all seem compatible. - John

But ... something to keep in mind if your transplanting across different age machines : The CPU boards can vary in thickness depending on their age, the older ones being thicker than the newer ones. Also, the case backs vary as well, some press against the CPU board, and some don't. You may need to use the spacer washers (those white nylon things) depending on the CPU board thickness and type of case back. - John
