HP 42S, variations?

Other than country of manufacture, are there any different ROM versions or other important variations in the history of the famous 42S?

There is a speed up routine that is programmable on early units that is not programmable on later units. In the later units you have to manually change the speed. I'm sure if you searched the forum archive you could find the routine. Randy

Yes, there are 3 versions of the HP42S: A, B and C. To find out the version of your HP42S do: EXIT-LOG, then back-arrow, then decimal-point. You will see a letter at the left of screen (the version) and a number a the right (kind of self-test result, like WSLOG for HP48 serie). To recover, do EXIT-SQRT.
