Actually, the guts of the 42S and the 32SII are VERY different. But you're right -- last time I looked, the HP-17BII has essentially the same innards as does the 42S, and it's still available.

I'd like HP to package their programmable calculator software and RPN interface as a Journada (or other pocket PC) application. That's where the product has to be headed anyway: flexible software on a general-purpose machine.
