Bug in HP42
Message #1 Posted by Menno on 3 May 2000, 6:11 a.m.

If I use a fractional number for [COMB] the HP42 will give "INVALID DATA". Correct ofcourse. BUT if I do the calculation again with an integer number it will still give "INVALID DATA". I first have to make a random calculation [+] or [-] or whatever and after that [COMB] will work again. Clearing stack and last X will not help. In my program I put in an extra step to make sure it's an integer.

Are there more with this bug ?

Yes, it is a known bug. I think (from memory) it affects the COMB and PERM functions, and another way of producing it is to enter the parameters (integers) in inverted order. Then, even when you renter them in the correct order, the error persists. I think the bug is commented in some place here at the Museum.
