How do I check a HP82143A Printer without a 41
Message #1 Posted by menno on 25 Apr 2000, 4:17 a.m.

Hello,

This weekend I got a HP82143A in very good condition, compleet with 220V ac-adapter. How can I check if the thermal head is working without a 41 attached ? Is there a self-test for this device ? I don't want to risk a 41 by just connecting it.

thanks,

Menno

I checked the manual of the printer, and there is no self-test. Just connect printer to calculator -- make sure that both divices are OFF--. Set mode switch of the printer on "TRACE" or "NORM", and turn on calculator and printer. Press a key on the calculator. It should be printed by the printer.

Connect printer to highest port of the calculator.

I/O ports

[ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ] [ 4 ]

I/O ports should be: [ 1 ] [ 2 ] upper 2 ports [ 3 ] [ 4 ] lower 2 ports. I did that on previous replay, but the massageboard put them next to each other.
